Scorpio is the most intense sign of the zodiac and lunar eclipses are one of the most powerful astrological activators we have. The combination of these two is the perfect recipe for a grand capitulation. Scorpio rules our fears, the deepest darkest aspects of our subconscious and is linked to the underworld and all that lurks there. It also rules powerful transformation and the ability to rise above the ashes. It makes rebirth and regeneration possible. The chart of this eclipse has the moon in Scorpio sitting across from the sun in Taurus, which is sandwiched in between Uranus on one side and Mercury retrograde on the other. Uranus likes to surprise us with the unexpected and create chaos, Mercury in retrograde is helping us to rethink the situation and regain a new perspective. Looking back to 2020, the entire world collectively experienced an unprecedented surprise in which we became filled with uncertainty. Slowly, life returned to a new normal and with lightning speed we went from what felt like hundred-hour days to not enough daylight to get everything done. Yet as we have returned to our busy lives, the world continues to be filled with a sense of uncertainty that has many of us waiting for the next bottom to fall out. Whether it is disease, famine, finances, banking, the markets, threats of war, natural disasters, global warming, politics, policy, violence, mass shootings etc. the world continues to be a place that we have little control over. What we do have control over is what is going on inside of us and what we put out into the world. This eclipse is offering us an opportunity to honestly examine the deep dark places of ourselves and relinquish that what we don’t have control over and to acknowledge and release the fears we have of the unknown. The theme song from the movie Frozen comes to mind,
“It's funny how some distance makes everything seem small
And the fears that once controlled me can't get to me at all
It's time to see what I can do
To test the limits and break through
No right, no wrong, no rules for me
I'm free”
The next new moon will be in Taurus and is our annual opportunity to plant new seeds. The current eclipse energy is best used to make sure your soil is clean and fertile.
Remember, this is the last eclipse we will have in Scorpio until 2031. Make it count!
